Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is Coaching?

Coaching is a partnership designed to help clients better manage their lives, create greater fulfillment, and identify and live their dreams. Specifically with an iPEC Certified Professional Coach, the core energy coaching process helps people tap into their inner purpose and passion, and connect that will their outer goals and tasks to bring about extraordinary and sustainable results.

Although definitions may differ, coaching is fun, inspiring, purposeful and fulfilling!

What’s the Difference Between Coaching vs. Therapy?

First and foremost, coaching is a partnership. Coaches focus on solutions. Coaches do not work with mental illness or spend much time on client issues or problems. In fact, coaches do not see anything as a problem, only as an opportunity. Traditional therapists or counselors often times focus on the past, analyze client behavior, or diagnose/manage mental health issues when needed.

Coaches do not start in the past, but release the energy the past has on the clients so they can move forward. The past is only the focus in coaching as a learning/growing tool, and if part of the present problem. If/when mental health issues arise, coaching and therapy can work wonderfully along side each other with the referral of a mental health professional.

In summary, the main difference is the therapist usually helps the client figure out the “why,” while the coach helps the client focus on the “how.”

What’s The Difference Between Coaching vs. Consulting?

Consultants have an agenda and possible answers and bring those to the client. They are experts in a certain field. Coaches on the other hand, have no agenda except to help the client get what he/she wants to achieve. Although coaches have specialization in certain fields, their true expertise is in the coaching process.

Coaches will not give clients advice or answers, because there are no magical answers. However, there will be times when a coach may suggest new ideas. Coaches not only help bring about effective change, but help a client become aware and shift their energy, hold clients accountable, and create space in which a client can explore his/her issues and concerns in a confidential and safe space.

The main difference here is the consultant is hired to be an expert in a certain field, and will offer the client advice and answers. Coaches understand that the client is the expert in their own life.

WhY is your logo a Moon? And what’s up with all the moon references?

Great question! Whether you believe in astrology or not, I believe that the moon can teach us a few things. For one, there is beauty all around us. All it takes is a simple glance up at the sky to remind us how beautiful and vast our universe is. How we are connected to a much larger picture. A collective energy. We are never alone on this journey, but rather connected. Even as a little girl when I star gazed and looked up at the moon, I was fascinated how people all over the world were looking at that same very moon. In that very same moment. Talk about being connected to a larger picture!

And second, the moon teaches us that no matter what phase you are in, you are still beautiful, and still whole. Like the moon, we are always shifting. Constantly changing. Forever transitioning. This mirrors our own lives. It teaches us to be patient during our tough times, lean into the discomfort, and know we are shifting into something greater. To not be afraid of our own darkness, while embracing our light, and owning all of our magic.
